Simple Tools that work in a High Tech World
by Antoinette Matlins

Today there are more varieties of gemstones being sold, and more types of treatments being used to transform them, than ever before. Increasingly, the focus has been on the use of expensive, advanced instrumentation. As a result, the value of many simple tests has been ignored, or lost altogether. Many gemmologists today overlook basic tools and techniques that can be important aids to gem identification and treatment detection.

Come join Antoinette Matlins for a fresh and invigorating look at the simple side of gemmology. This hands-on presentation will demonstrate the value of small, simple tools. Whether checking for treatments, checking parcels for 'salting,' or guarding against HPHT enhanced diamonds, this presentation will give you a new appreciation for their value in this high-tech world.and anyone who thinks "simple tools" are obsolete will be in for an eye-opener!

Please bring your own Chelsea Colour Filters and flexilights/torches for the presentation.
